BLACK BOX / LIGHT BOX
light and sound installation

This installation was built for the event «Licht», organized by Selektion (Achim Wollscheid and Charly Steiger at the time).
The BLACK BOX contained two heating spirals, and was clad in thermographic paper. When the heat was switched on, the paper would change its colour.
The LIGHT BOX contained several ilght bulbs, and could be opened to produce a light pattern in the space.
Both boxes hung from the ceiling and were wired with contact microphones to transmit the small cracks of the metal stretching when it was heated up.
Heat and light were interpreted to be two different aspects of the same kind of energy.
