Escape Directory
This series of photographs is a part of the project ARCHITECTURAL COMMENTARIES, that, since 2005, also includes 80 minutes of sound work and a collection of line graphs. The CD ARCHITECTURAL COMMENTARIES was released in 2002 by CMR, NZ. The CD ARCHITECTURAL COMMENTARIES 4&5 was released by London-based label Entr’acte in 2007.
Whenever I travel extensively I take pictures of architecture and urban space. A careful balance between construction, deconstruction and decay is held within this catalogue of pictures. Most of them have the appearance of pure documentary work, but they all have the subtle subjective touch of a commentator.
The images reveal aspects of such issues like marks of war, indecision and incapacity in urban planning, the level of chaos and fragmentisation of urban space in a society.
The photographs can be viewed separately from the sound work, and in 2005 I began to arrange them in a metafile provisionally entitled ESCAPE DIRECTORY (ESC_DIR).
